Alison has a wealth of experience gained working for over 15 years in the skills arena for Skills Development Scotland, Scottish Enterprise and Careers Scotland and she is a member of the Institute of Careers Guidance (ICG). She is also a qualified MBTI Certified Practitioner. While living in the San Francisco Bay area Alison studied cutting edge Training Design at UC Berkeley, Collaborative Leadership at the American Management Association and Lean Startup methodology at Stanford University.
Alison has a longstanding interest in science and technology and now specialises in tailoring and applying these innovative training programmes for science professionals. Skillfluence, under Alison’s direction, has been the training partner on a number of large academic research projects working with the academic leads to identify the professional skills needs and provide a bespoke training programme for inclusion in the grant application and successful delivery once funded. Alison has presented at international conferences and hosted and delivered networking, careers and skills workshops for early career international scientists visiting the UK.
She has a reputation for creative thinking and was a winning finalist in the Scottish Enterprise “The Big Idea” challenge when she innovated proposals around the life science sector to create a step change in the Scottish Economy.

Li had 8 years postdoctoral experience in pharmacology before joining an university spin out company. She became CTO for 3years before the company was bought out by a large multinational. She has since gone on to co-found two start ups in the healthcare sector and sits on the board of directors of a further two biotechnology companies. She is passionate about the development of an entrepreneurial culture in the UK and works part time as a consultant and growth coach.
Brian is a leading UK creative expert and an experienced trainer, workshop leader and facilitator. He has set up creative problem solving units for multinationals in the pharmaceutical and energy sectors. He has a 15 year background in advertising and he gives an insight into the methods ad agencies and communications experts use to generate ideas in his training classes and idea generation sessions.
James has worked across the Learning and Development field for 19 years in a range of sectors, countries and businesses. One of his major interests is in the influence of culture on management styles. He works with people in their first management role up to the most senior levels of management. He specialises in the areas of Management Development, Leadership and Business Communication, Negotiation and Impact.
